Dedicated to Women in the Arts
A woman’s creative perspective and experience is not better, not in competition, not more important than any other but it exists clearly, strongly, steadfastly. It is diverse within itself, interesting, curious, at times controversial. Worth dedicating time to.
It is always a pleasure to see, to reflect upon, to work with passionate artistic women. Over the last three years we have discovered a wealth of high quality creative talent.
We began simply with an International Art Competition titled “Exquiste Expressions” in 2008 which was open only to women. Through this we were introduced to some wonderful artists which in turn inspired us to investigate more deeply.
In 2009 we created the first “Women in the Arts” TOPTEN International Art Competition and presented in the On-line Winners’ Exhibition over 100 artists from 30 different countries. The winning entry chosen by well-known artist Donna Balma created quite a controversy with lots of discussion. Elizabeth Genovesi, Founding Director of ARTROM Network asked artist/photographer Dominic Rouse to view the exhibition and express his opinion. The resulting audio file he sent has created a flux of responses.
In 2010 we decided not only to continue the “Women in the Arts, Edition°2” TOPTEN International Art Competition but to celebrate the 100th year anniversary of International Women’s Day with the “Women in the Arts, colori, volumi, passioni” Exhibition of six artists at the ARTROM “Home” Gallery, Artist Presentation Space in Rome, Italy.
We are also very happy to announce our beginning collaboration with the Museo Internazionale della Donna nell’Arte located in Abruzzo, Italy. Hopefully in working together we can bring significant results to women artists and the museum.
We would like to continue this exchange about the current status of Women in the Arts and the need to give a special focus to this category. Please let us know what you think…………….
